Early Start or Early Intervention Services

• Early Intervention Service provides your child with the essential foundation they need for a successful start.

• Through engaging in play, your child will acquire vital communication skills and social skills to achieve their developmental milestones.

Early Intervention or Early Start Services

Here are the highlights of Early Intervention services.
  • Early Start or Early Intervention Services are the cornerstone of effective intervention for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or developmental delays. We offer individualized, evidence-based therapy that can make a significant difference in your child’s development.
  • The focus on early, intensive intervention maximizes the potential for growth in critical areas such as communication, socialization, and behavior management.
  • Through collaborative work with families and other professionals, ABA Works’ Early Start  services can help children with ASD or developmental delays achieve meaningful progress and improve their quality of life.
  • Early Start services are typically intensive, with the number of therapy hours depending on the individual child’s needs. The intensity of therapy can range from 15-40 hours a week, with younger children generally needing more hours for optimal progress.
  • The length of time a child receives Early Start ABA varies. Some children may need intervention for a few months, while others may require several years of therapy. Progress is monitored, and treatment plans are adjusted based on your child’s development.
  • ABA Works always includes parents. Parents are trained to understand the principles of ABA and how to apply them in their daily routines with their children. This helps ensure consistency and generalization of skills across all environments. Our family support can also reduce stress and improve the overall quality of life for the child and family.

How does a session look like?

  • Session preparation: Our ABA Works’ clinic is designed for your child. The therapist can easily gather toys, reinforcement items (e.g., snacks, tokens), visual schedules, and educational materials prior to the session. The tablet will be turned on so all goals will be displayed for your child.
  • Establishing rapport: The session begins with a friendly greeting from the therapist. Some children may need a few minutes to adjust to the environment, so a brief ‘transition period’ with calming activities or preferred toys might occur. Initially, the therapist will engage in a warm-up activity that aligns with the child’s interests. This helps the child feel comfortable and build trust. It can also be a way to assess the child’s current mood and focus level.
  • The therapist may use Naturalist Environment Training (NET.) This methods is less formal and more integrated into play-based interactions.

  • A key part of early intervention involves helping the child develop social and play skills. Play is a natural avenue for children to learn. Also, communication is a primary focus of early intervention.

  • At the end of the session, a session note will be typed out on the tablet, which the parent can view, and the parent will be debriefed about their child’s accomplishments.
